Greenhouse Box

If you are like me and don't have the need, energy or resources to build a large greenhouse, try this idea that my husband came up with. It works perfectly!

Buy 1 (or 100, whatever amount you need) of clear plastic bins.
Paint the inside of the lid black so when placed upside down, it will reflect the sun and warm the inside of the box.

Place the lid with the "inside" (the part painted black) facing upward. Place a tray of potting soil planted with seeds on top of the lid and then place the "top" of the bin over it.

It will be like a clear square shaped  dome where seedlings can grow in the sun but also be protected from the cold and rain. The lid allows the moisture to drain off if it should get super wet. The heat of the black lid helps to make condensation to keep the seedlings moist, warm and sunny!

He placed bricks along the rim to hold it down. It's been rather windy lately!
These little guys are ready to be transplanted into the garden bed. We will place the plastic lids over the seedlings once in the ground overnight or on cold days until the frost line is crossed.
It works great!! Give it a try for any kind of seeds!
